Why We Cycle – Air’s Inspiring Story

Air is a smart and determined young girl battling leukemia. Despite the challenges of her hospital treatments, she continues her education and remains focused on her studies. TCDF (Thai Child Development Foundation) ensures that Air receives chemotherapy and the necessary treatments while helping her maintain a sense of normalcy, allowing her to pursue her studies and passions.

Air's strength and resilience inspire us all. We believe every child deserves the chance to thrive in both healthcare and education. Together, we can keep children like Air in school and support them in leading their best lives.

Cycling for a Cause

Our cycling journey isn’t just about adventure; it’s also about supporting children like Air. Together, we are raising funds for the Thai Child Development Foundation (TCDF), which provides scholarships to Thai children with special needs.

Our goal is to raise €20,000. So far, we’ve cycled 2,100 km from Hanoi and raised €14,500. With your help, the next kilometers can be a little easier – for us and for the children we support.

From Cambodia to Thailand

With nearly empty wallets and rumbling stomachs, we pedaled toward the Thai border. A kind eatery gifted us a free bowl of soup and a bottle of water.

Small acts of kindness go a long way! Despite my protesting stomach, we reached the border by 11:00 AM. Exiting Cambodia was straightforward, and within half an hour, we had two-month visas stamped in our passports.

The next morning, we began cycling through Eastern Thailand. The landscape was enchanting: rolling hills, fields of corn, sugarcane, cassava, and papaya trees. We passed Cambodian laborers toiling in the fields while Thai soldiers checked roadblocks.

A stop at 7-Eleven offered a brief respite and a welcome dose of caffeine joy. It felt good to be back in Thailand – the food is fantastic, the people are relaxed, and even the air feels gentler.

First Impressions of Thailand

Today, we cycled through sugarcane fields and along gravel and asphalt roads. A supermarket meal was a letdown, but fresh fruit from the market more than made up for it – especially the pineapple. Sorry, Cambodia, but Thailand wins this round hands down.

Thailand feels like a warm embrace: the friendly people, delicious cuisine, and relaxed atmosphere leave a lasting impression. We’re excited for the upcoming kilometers. But first? Another slice of pineapple! 🍍

Thank you for following our journey. Every kilometer we cycle and every euro we raise truly makes a difference. Keep following along and ride with us in spirit – for us and the children we’re supporting.
